McNeil Point

Mt. Hood (OR) -- July 4, 2007

Four of us went out from the Top Spur trail and around Bald Mountain on the west side Timberline trail.

We then crossed back to the north-side portion. We navigated through six or seven areas of

downed trees before we got to the viewpoint. As we got higher, we encountered snow on the trails.

The tarns had snow and melt. At the McNeil cutoff walked through snow nearly to the top of the ridge.

After a short break, we crossed three more snow fields and arrived at McNeil Point. We went down the

steep user path to the Timberline trail and were back to our car in a RT time of just over 5 hours.
