Boy Scout Ridge

 Mt. Hood, OR -- December 12, 2009

Nine of us went out from the White River (west) sno-park. There was a light,
misty snow falling gently and the temperature was 32 F with overcast sky and
no views of the mountain. The snow was hard packed at the cars, but once into
the woods it was surprisingly soft and almost fluffy. We followed the diamond-marked
trail for about a mile then went off-trail up to the ridge and enjoyed the snow. We had
lunch atop a small hill then came back making a new track on the ridge. We nearly
went in a circle until I got my compass out and got us headed back north. By the time
we got back to the cars, we had travelled nearly four miles in the 3:15 time we were out.
