Mineral Jane trail
near Mt. Hood, OR -- December 19, 2009
Twelve of ventured out to Barlow Pass sno-park. The sky was overcast and
dripping a heavy mist in 40 F weather. The recent snow was heavy with old
rain but was 6" to 8" deep on top the 30" base. I had planned to follow the
Mineral Jane trail to the Barlow forest raod, but I kept us on the trail for most
of our day because we were getting soaked from the drizzle and there were
no views to be seen of the mountain. We had a short lunch break and I turned
us around so we wouldn't get hypothermia from the rain and cold. We were
out for two hours and trekked 3 miles. The pub was good for soup and beer.
