Palmateer Point
near Mt. Hood, OR -- January 10, 2010
Nineteen people came along with me on this trek to Palmateer Point. The snow on he trail was very compacted
due to the warm weather (40F) and previous use, so I opted to go off-trail and paralleled the PCT for more than
a mile. We rejoined the trail and found the trail sign for Palmateer and then followed some tape markers until we
came to the intersection of the Devil's half-acre trail. From there, we went east and found the edge of the point
and went up a steep slope to the ridge then finally to the point. There, we had lunch and then went down to the
meadow and found our tracks to return to the PCT and the cars. RT was about five miles, time about 3:30.
